Natural Moodboard {By Aurora}

So this morning, Mila and I will be watching the wedding of Will and Kate because according to Mila "it's very important!". On the creative side, I'm in love with Aurora's latest moodboard, this pop up shop that Desiree found in Amsterdam and very happy for Annaleena's great creative news! Have a wonderful Royal Wedding weekend!

Update: just finished watching the Royal Wedding commented by Stephane Bern & Karl Lagerfeld in France. Kate was absolutely gorgeous!! I wish them all the best, they look such a nice, happy couple

Life with Mila...at the beach

This week, we are at the beach....I'm painting a few bits and pieces in the house, changing the hobb and sanding the kitchen bench in this other house, Steve is adding a door & windows to the tree house and at the end of each day, we go to the beach...
I took the minx to the haircoiffeur* yesterday. She wanted a fringe....I swear since she got it, she seemed to have developped some kind of over "I'm too cute" type of thing confidence...as if more was needed!

Morning:
Mila: "Maman, can you bring me a mirror pleeaasse" (fringe novelty obliges)
Me: "Why don't you move your little bum and drag yourself in front of the mirror!"

Afternoon:
Mila: "Maman...why do you always paint everything in white?"
Me: "Because I love it! White interiors calm me down"
Mila: "Yeah but you always paint everything white, white, white...I thought you liked blue"
Me: "I do. I love colours on clothes but at home, I like white because then I can add a few touches of colours"
Mila: "It's boring!" - tiens prend ca maman

End of the day (at the beach, Mila found a stone in the shape of a taurus head)
Me: "It looks great...are you going to paint it white?"
Mila: "Non! It's mine! I've found it, I carry it and I will paint the colour I want"
La voila....

1. Heart made by Mila from a broken bracelet found at the beach 2. Taurus headstone TO BE NOT PAINTED
IN WHITE! 3. The cousins before the fringegate 4. Lily 5. Elodie with the stunning cardboard head our mum made 6. Mila wearing my Swedish Hasbeens 7. Perrine (buy her album here)

Mila: "It's boring!"

Cocoon

It's not often that I post about music but on Tuesday eveninbefore we went on holidays, I took Mila to her first concert to see Cocoon, a French band that sings in English and I think they are really worth it!
It was a great, intimate concert and their songs are very cool. So I just want to spread a bit of love and I'm hoping you will love them too.
While I'm at it, I would also highlight the performance of Mesparrow who gave us a pretty amazing performance

PS: They will be at Glastonbury too so if you go, try to go and see them

Happy Dog print

We've just added a new print to our collection of art prints and posters and having an Australian Shepherd at home called Lucas (although recently he should be called 'flipping Attila'), I love how the design of this print celebrates dog ownership.
Yes, you get mucky pup, socks/gloves/scarf that disappeared (Lucas is very much into textiles), brand new Swedish Hasbeens clogs chewed, beloved vintage fur jacket ruined, expensive (so I was told) helmet hidden at the back of the garden, Zadig & Voltaire jumpers with holes (it's very tendance) but you also get inconditional love...
Someone who will happily leak your face even if you have spent your whole sunday in your PJs and have not showered, someone who will look super sad when you tell him off but equally will forgive in a split second and will be hugely happy to see you if you've gone away without him.
So for all these reasons, I think the Happy Dog print is wonderful and I do hope you will like it too.

Industrial moodboard {By Aurora}

I'm now in holidays but I could not help sharing this amazing (again) moodboard Aurora did, inspired by the House Doctor DK collection we just received (check out the clip on light and the industrial table light...) We also love the wall storage unit...perfect for our studio or a home office.

Paris Creative Couples by Editions PAUMES

The new book Paris Creative Couples by Editions Paumes has arrived...
I'm so excited! Each time we get a new one, I feel like a little girl in a candy shop.
This one focuses on creative couples in Paris and you will see the homes of amazing, inspiring people like this gorgeous attic flat which belongs to Stylist and Designer Cheri Messerli and Creative Director David Rager. Enjoy!

I like this...

Well, I have to admit that I don't think painting a wall in green (Dulux's Forest Falls 2 here) would have even crossed my mind but I think it works brilliantly in this room!
Personally, I love the green trestles and the white floorboards so I think I would have painted the wall in white to make the green trestles stand out and keep the whole vibe fresh and light.

Isabel Marant workspace

I'm into workspace at the moment (like this one)...Having Aurora, Sophie and Megan on board makes me want to change, move things around and create a great working environment for them. We all love how this moodboard runs across the whole wall and since we have a beautiful, white brick wall staring at us in the office, we've decided that each time we come across photos, stylism, an atmosphere that inspire us during our {creative fridays}, we will pin them on our wall to create this massive moodboard which will gather together all our tastes.
I'm a big fan of Isabel Marant (her stuff goes nicely with Clare Vivier's bags) and I love, love, love her workspace. What do you think?

PS: A couple of weeks ago, I had THE Coup de Foudre for this track by French band Cocoon and they happen to play in London tonight near our home so I'm taking Mila to her first concert! Have a great day

Via Things I Like Things I love (thanks for your lovely comment by the way!)

Living the high life....

Sooo...you know....a couple of weeks ago....I was invited to celebrate My Deco's 3rd year anniversary at Sir Terence Conran's pad...pretty cool huh!? It was quite magical to wander around the home of this iconic design legend, founder of Habitat and then The Conran shop, see his numerous boxes of cigars, a poster signed by all his students, his study...
His flat was amazing. I had seen a few photos in some interior magazines before but hanging out there for real was quite an experience. I personally loved how the flow of the upstairs space and his two front and back terraces....oui Madame...two terraces and if he needs anyone to house-sit this Summer anytime, I'm available...
And a big thank you to Francois for these great shots.

(C) Francois Kong

Easy Living....thank you

What a nice surprise this morning to get an email from Easy Living magazine telling us they had featured our beautiful Rob Ryan plates...The plates are temporarily out of stock but will be back in stock at the end of April/beginning of May...and honestly these plates are a must-have. They look even more beautiful in reality and they are very good value too.
Welcome to Spring...

I was planning to post the images of Sir Terence Conran's pad where I spent a private evening a couple of weeks ago (sooo cool!) but my brother showed me these pictures he took of my home and I'm sorry but home is where my heart is, so Sir Conran's pad will wait until Monday...

Do you remember Aurora's gorgeous moodboards? Well...I'm very pleased to announce that Aurora has joined our team and we are also very happy to welcome Morgane, our French intern who will be staying with us for 3 months.

So each Friday afternoons, we will spend our time creating moodboards, reading blogs and finding inspiration to feed this back into our work....

Brainstorming

Me: "Well if none of your friends know Ugly betty, why don't we do a moustache party or an old men party, I saw this somewhere on a website
Mila: "It's not nice to copy"
Me: "Yes you're right but it could be fun to do"
Mila: "Yes but it still no nice to copy"
She is right but gee...what does all this stuff come from!?

Bathroom!

This is a great example of the type of bathrooms I have in mind for our home in London and France....What do you think?

Life with Mila....

7am: on skype to her papa who is in Hong Kong
Mila: "on Thursday, we have to dress up at school and I would like a rabbit costume with a little basket with chocolate eggs for my friends"
Papa (trying to pass on his kiwi wisdom to his child): "You know where I was little, we used to empty eggs and paint them"
Mila: "Yeah but you know now we have chocolate eggs" (as in... you know in 2011, chocolate eggs exist so we don't have to paint eggs)
Papa: "Yes I know but it would be a cool thing to do..."
Mila: "Err...but we have chocolate eggs now" (go away Daddy with your old-fashioned craft ideas, I'm going to Tesco...

PS: I love the girl's hair below, love her style, love her face and I love this new print!

7pm: diner table with Laure (our lovely French au-pair) and Mila

For some odd, inexplicable reasons, Mila loves bananas but hates touching them once they're peeled. Today's lesson with Laure was how to peel a banana right to the bottom without having to touch it
Me: "wow bebe, I'm so proud of you!...Well done Laure"
Mila: "Well done ME!"

*Look, I do this and this and there we go!

Element House

It has been a while since I posted about architecture and although Element House, an architectural project from Rintala Eggertsson Architects, is located near Seoul in Korea...the simplicity of the architecture, the use of natural material, its presence in the middle of a forest, somehow reminds me of the pine tree forests of my childhood in the Bay of Arcachon. Two more weeks to go and we go home to finish our tree house, spend some time with our family and breathe in and breathe out the salted fresh air from the Atlantic coast from the top of this beautiful Dune.
"Element House is made to offer a shelter and an experience for all senses to the people on their way to nature or returning back to city. The larger main space is a cubical space made of steel which leads to four smaller wooden rooms situated in four different levels, from a cellar to an attic. Each small space includes a suggestion for use and the symbolic presence of one of the basic elements (fire, water, air, earth). The project wishes to create an inner world where memories and even dreams may have their moment and place."

Happy sunday

The sun is out, Mila has her little Aigle red gumboots on and a far too big for her t-shirt on, gift from her cousin Kerry in New-Zealand and she is cleaning Lucas's doghouse.
Mila: "Luccaas...Tu peux te pousser* it''s a job for grown-ups"
Days cant get better than that. Have a great sunday with your friends and family

*Can you move, it's a job for grown-ups
