A corner of my bedroom: Ellie Tennant

Today, I'm delighted to share with you Ellie's bedroom in London. As Deputy Shopping Editor of Ideal Home magazine and Blogger for Home Shopping Spy, Ellie has accessed to the latest, on trend interiors goodies on a daily basis so I think I was expected something more contemporary but her bedroom took me by surprise in a good way. Ellie's bedroom is full of gorgeous vintage treasures (typewriter, camera, buttons, books) that she mixed with new things like the I Love you blogs and coffee print she got from us last year (sadly we no longer in stock), a glass dome and the latest interior books...gorgeous!

★★From Ellie★★
"One of the alcoves in our bedroom is now my 'Vintage Tat' corner. I collect so many bits and bobs at car boot sales and markets that it's an ever-evolving display. My boyfriend Rob says the 'creepy' shoe lasts look as though they might start tap dancing at midnight, but on the whole he's very tolerant of my junk. The shelves are just the LACK ones from Ikea which are cheap and very strong if you fix them to the wall with massive screws. The Singer sewing machine was £5 in a car boot sale, I bought my lovely typewriter for £1 on eBay (it was listed as 'not working' but has always typed perfectly and the vintage camera was in a box of stuff I picked up at an auction. I keep all my favourite books on these shelves too. My bedroom is my sanctuary - especially at the moment as we're re-decorating and renovating the downstairs rooms so this is my refuge from the dust and chaos. There is nothing better than reading the papers in bed on Sunday morning with Radio Four, a cup of peppermint tea and a cat or two hanging out. Wow, I really am a party animal!".

Next week: come and see Joanna's bedroom corner in Poland who literally spoiled me with a lot of gorgeous images

Halloween mood board

Top one via The City Sage, bottom one from Snippet and Ink

and our own Halloween photoshoot...

This week, we also had our own Halloween photoshoot with two gorgeous five years old who were absolutely amazing! Between snack, watching Surf's Up, eating pancakes, laughing and trying over heaps of different outfits, masks and hats, we managed to shoot some gorgeous pics...May I dare to say 'gorgeous' after Sweet Paul's beautiful feature? Allez... oui!

White Halloween...

I was admiring this gorgeous White Halloween feature by Sweet Paul and was planning to link it in Happy thoughts for the weekend but the more time I spent on it, the more I thought...no this is too good, beautiful and inspiring, it deserves its own post! So here it is...

And congratulations to Paul whose digital magazine won Best Online Food & Drink Magazine of the Year...it's well deserved!

Happy thoughts for the weekend...

What are you up to this weekend?
On Sunday, we're having a Halloween BBQ at home with friends (remember...I share my live with a New-Zealander so it's BBQ all year long!). I don't know how it happened, I started easy on this H thing and suddenly ending up buying costumes for the whole family. Mila & Lucas our dog will be dressed as skeletons, Steve as Werewolf and me as Batgirl...not sure photos will follow...
Mila's friends are coming around in the afternoon to carve some pumpkins to create masterpieces like last year and then we will go around the block for tricks or treats.

This week, I Hallo-loved-ween...

I like this...

Sorry guys, I'm posting this as a memento for myself because my computer is SO slow, I need to throw away some stuff and I want to keep this in mind because I like the look of the storage boxes on the right hand side with the brown labels. I think they sell similar boxes at Ikea. I also love the moody mood board on the left which is quite dramatic with its B&W images. Something like this would be fab for a home office

On my wishlist...

I don't like pigeons. Especially the ones in London which are fat and dirty but this one is now on my wishlist

Isn't this dreamy?

Halloween photoshoot sneakpeek

We had so much fun shooting a couple of gorgeous five years old today, trying on over 15 different outfits...skeleton, witch, princess, werewolf and lots of masks, glasses and hats. The girls were fantastic, so fun and imaginative...They were coming up with all sorts of ideas and funny faces...and look how the small size of the STAR t-shirt looks cool on them!

Therese Sennerholt: Third collection

Talking of my love for fonts and typography yesterday, the email I got last night from Therese sending me images of her third Limited Edition collection, couldn't have come at a better time...
Therese Senneholt is an Award-Winning Sweden freelance Art Director who designs limited edition (and amazing!) graphic prints with quotations and sayings she heard or made up herself. Most of her quotes are positive and strike a chord (of course I have the 'Things are getting worse please send more chocolate" print at home). I first spotted her work on Lotta's blog and had butterflies in my belly which from past experience is usually a good sign.
Therese draws inspiration from people like Phoebe Philo, Tom Ford and Basquiat and photographers like Peter Lindbergh, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott from VOGUE.
The result is a striking, minimalist edgy collection of black and white prints that look simply amazing.

We are going to get a few of Therese's limited edition prints for our little shop. Each print will range from £70 to £95 each and will come unframed, signed and numbered by the artist.
I haven't decided which ones yet and today I'm at a photoshoot all day but I would love to know which one you prefer and why...

PS: These gorgeous shots were styled by Lotta Agaton and photographed by Henrik Bonnevier at Studio Delight.

Design*Sponge: Fonts roundup

It's not new... I absolutely LOVE fonts and typography. It's a simple, visual thing which, with all its simplicity, can change the whole look of a room. This why I fell in love with Therese Sennerholt prints which you'll see in our little shop next month or the one I have at home. I love how fonts can be used to design gorgeous prints of the UK, Australia and New-Zealand, as wall decoration, on food packaging and on this subject, if you haven't visited Selfridges Food Hall yet, you must go! It's a visual feast to all the things I love food, design and fonts.
So when I saw that the lovely Grace was sharing her favourite fonts, I could not resist relaying them to you here.

Expresso Cafe in Manhattan

As per the title of this blog, stating the obvious, this is the interior of the Expresso Cafe in Manhattan designed by Nema Workshop, a team of architects & designers who specialize in creating conceptually innovative spaces and this one, like or not, has a wow factor!

And if you fancy doing this at home...you know...turns a normal room sideways and almost feel like in Inception with Leonardo, you can use the new Bookshelf wallpaper by Y & B.
Available where?? I hear you saying... Chez nous here!

A corner of my bedroom: sfgirlbybay

Today, I'm showing you Victoria's bedroom from San-Francisco. As Editor of the fabulous Sfgirlbybay, Victoria needs no introduction but in case you've just came back from a trip on the moon, let me tell you a bit more about this amazing person.
As well as being the curator of one of the West Coast’s leading interior design blogs, Victoria is also a great photographer, talented stylist and a flea market queen and I love her style...a bit boho and always relaxed and welcoming. She kindly featured our home in France and suggested we do a house swap for the holidays which I would love to do!

★★From Victoria★★
"I love this little corner of my bedroom as much for the sentimentality as for the bargains I pulled together to create the look. The dresser was a beat-up old secondhand dresser I sanded down and painted a rich black lacquer. The mirror was a $20 find I bought when Urban Oufitters was selling the store fixtures they used for display, and I love how it reflects back the rest of the room. The Eiffel Towers are flea market finds, and remind me of my favorite city. And the dish holds all my mementos and favorite jewelry, including my Grandmother Lucy's locket."".

Next week: come and see Ellie's bedroom corner in London

I love this...

This is the home of Suki in Helsinki...she just hung some lights over her dinner table...gorgeous isn't it?!

Happy thoughts for the weekend...

What are you up to this weekend?
For me, it will be an 11K run with my friend on Saturday am and then the parents of our lovely French baby-sitter Jeanne over for dinner on Sunday but most of the weekend will be about hanging out, just the 4 of us. I love going out but I think deep down I love even more staying at home doing things around the house - especially when winter comes - and this WE, Steve is going to hang this cluster light in our bedroom and this one on the landing stairs for me.

This week, I loved....

Oops...

Last Saturday, at her farewell party, my friend Sofia reminded me of an 'embarrassing' anedoct...Ten years ago, when we were both working here, she brought in an advent calendar on 1st December to put in the office we were sharing...sweet isn't it?! For Sof, woman of tradition, it was a daily celebration that Xmas was around the corner...For me, the "chocolate-addict/French with no manners", it was just something that had chocolate in it and I couldn't resist dipping into her advent calendar more than once...oops!
Luckily, unlike me she is a very good friend so we stayed friends for a long time but I think it's time I pay my debt and send her one of these wonderful advent calendar and a box of chocolate.

What was the most embarrassing thing you did? Well, let me re-phrase that...what did you do years ago thinking it wasn't a big deal until you were reminded that your actions were in fact out of order...
