Initial Fashion in Hong Kong

This morning, Mila and I took the bus to go to Stanley market. It's probably where all the tourists in Hong Kong go to but I'm one of them and I was in heaven....so many cute and colourful little things to bring back to Lily, Bodie and everyone else...traditional chinese accessories wouldn't really work as decorative items in my home but in Mila's bedroom or my office they will rock! We got these amazing little wooden chinese dolls that come in bright red, yellow, blue or green and would look adorable on her shelves. I got her also a nice silk kimono to wear at home or on top of her skinny jeans and of course a Hello Kitty watch which she keeps looking at....very handy for me because I kept my blackberry on UK time to liaise with the office and we agreed that the watch qualified as a toy...
On our way back, I got a fabulous pair of shoes from Hong Kong fashion label: Initial (their website looks weird to start with but keep clicking...) which I had discovered the day before. Initially, it was the interior design of the Initial shop that caught my eyes...

White, beautiful, relaxing...displaying simple yet stylish and timeless clothes with an edge on vintage, industrial clothes racks....I was at home.....
The walls were covered with whitewashed wooden panels and the sofa where Mila kept jumping on, was covered with a loose-linen cover...everything was really beautiful (and the sales girls really friendly) and I wish it had been more about interiors than fashion but in the end I fell for a pair of white high-heels but I love the whole branding of Initial fashion.

From the clothes, the shop to their paper bags, stickers, newsletter..everything just look beautiful and I will scan the magazine I picked up from the shop when I'm back in the UK to show you how creative it looks.

Initial has also a cafe with vintage furniture and concrete distressed floor and I'm now dying to see it! Here are some shots from lwing_yan.mysinablog

Adore Vintage

Today I had a real 'coup de coeur' for Rodellee Marie's website Adore Vintage which carries one-of-a-kind vintage clothing and vintage accessories!

Rodelle was born and raised in the Philippines and fell in love with fashion at a very early age. At 5 years-old, she was already the proud owner of 15 pairs of shoes with matching bags and a handful of fancy hand-sewn dresses.
At 7, she told her Grandfather that she would be a fashion designer making paper dolls from cardboard and constrution paper.
20 years later, Rodellee now collects and sells vintage clothing and does a wonderful job.
Adore Vintage has amazing vintage pieces like the Citrus and Honey dress or this beautiful Kenneth J Lane necklace which make you feel like you've raided Alex Chun or Nicole Richie's wardrobes...and don't get me started on the bags...I love the Passenger Train bag and the Wicker Rocker Clutch below

As soon as I landed on the Adore Vintage homepage, I had butterflies in my belly...it has so many nice things...I hope you enjoy it too. You can also read Rodellee's blog for more vintage inspiration...

Amazing work studio in Philadelphia

Today, I'm writing from a hotel room with an amazing view on Hong Kong. We arrived yesterday and no matter how much we are used to travel, I always think it's a bit surreal and amazing to be one day in London and the day after in a complete different place.
I probably wouldn't spend a week holiday here but I'm glad we stopped over before heading for Auckland. So far, Mila and I explored the luxurious shopping mall below our hotel, and discovered the local supermaket where I bought her a funky yellow apple pencil sharpener but I managed to get lost so will see if tomorrow we can venture a bit further.
In the meantime, here is an amazing loft owned by Shauna and Steven, the designers behind Something's hiding in here
I always envy the space lofts provide but they not always easy to make them work as family-friendly spaces. However Shauna and Steven have managed to create a string of creative corners and to give this massive space an amazing character full of individuality.

I love their collection of vintage globes on top of the shelves which they built themselves and apparently it wasn't an easy job...Although green is not my colour, I also like the large typo on the wall and if you have a large wall like this available, you may as well use it as a giant canvas to either feature family pictures (using the Family wallpaper) or beautiful prints like the ABC Love print from MadeByGirl and the Make and Do Mend print from Bold & Noble.

How cool is this kitchen? Don't you think it looks like a TV set??

Cycloc - a fabulous design

The Cycloc, a wall-mounted bike rack is exactly the kind of design I love....it's useful, beautiful, well-designed and affordable.

We have 3 bikes at home so something like this is just perfect to free up floor space in the hallway or garage plus I like its design.
Designed by Andrew Lang, a British designer who has worked for the past 10 years with various design agencies, the Cycloc is made in Britain from 100% recycled post industrial plastic.
Andrew said to me that the most popular colours are white and black in the UK but personally I prefer the green and orange. If you are going to invest in a piece of great design, you may as well go for something cheerful!

And if you have a loft or an open-plan office, this will look very cool...You can even store bike accessories in it and you can wall-mount it in seconds.
Now get yourself a bike and make the most of the nice weather!
