Family wallpaper in the Daily Mail

Our Family wallpaper was recently featured in Living Etc and the Daily Mail (above). This photo is a great example of how you can customize it with vintage family pictures...
You can also use a mix of photos and drawings from the kids or in a tantalising display of post-modernism, let the spaces within the frames tell their own story. It is entirely up to you but of course if you are struggling with the idea to let the kids go wild on a £120 a roll, then breathe.....The new Sitting comfortably, In Town or Tick Tock wallpapers for children by Mini Moderns are the perfect solution to revamp the kids bedroom in no time and let them express themselves.

weekend Liberty

Last year, I mentioned that having my creative mum around at home inspired me to dust off my sewing machine and do something with the beautiful Liberty samples I got from a trip in Copenhagen...well hardly the achievement of the year since it took my 3 hours to do a cushion cover! But hey these past two weeks, I have been sewing again and moved onto a second cushion cover (call me crazy!) done in 30 min so a major improvements. I also can't seem to stop sewing Liberty hearts to hang onto Mila's door but it's now too dark to take a decent picture....Here are the cushions for the time being....

The print on the wall is The Old Oak's Last Dream from Missemai, the red toy on the left is from Habitat and the big orange dog is from BODIE and FOU.

Norm 69 in New York

When you think that the Norm 69 pendant light was designed in 1969, the year I was born (which seems a almost a century ago but doesn't feel like one), it's pretty amazing how modern and contemporary, this pendant light still looks and these pictures of Dumbo Breakfast in New York (111 Front St, Brooklyn 11201) just show how amazing the Norm 69 looks like once up...

Lisa Whatmough's house

Last year, I mentioned the very unique and colourful designs from London company Squint and I've just discovered the beautiful house of Lisa Whatmough, the designer behind Squint in East London... A feast of colours!
From lampshades to picture frames, sofas, armchairs and even teapots, Whatmough revamps everything with her colourful fabrics and the result is very striking! Whatnough says it all started when she fell in love with silk from XIX century and then started her thriving design company 4 years ago. As she struggled to find large pieces of antique silk, she moved onto patchwork.
To warm up her white walls, Lisa added a beautiful vintage French farm table and customised the teapot with fabrics from Liberty, and used a psychedelic fabric from the 70s on the Italian lamp.

Opposite the table, Lisa created a colourful corner with a Victorian armchair covered with 'toile de Jouy' fabric while the ball on the floor has been covered with French fabrics from 1920. On the wall, she customised a picture frame with japanse fabrics to add the final touch to this very lively patchwork atmosphere.

Lisa says she has no limits :-) and will happily mixed Japanese and French fabrics with romantic swatches of Liberty and even striped fabrics from Paul Smith. She covered the floor lamp with orange corduroy and mixed chintz with thick cottons for her curtains.

Her kitchen is a bit more minimal, all in stainless-steel...although there is still a nice collection of customised tea pots to add a touch colours...

In her bedroom, she painted the floorbaords in white and added a large mirror above her bed to reflect the Empire bed. The walls are painted with Lamp room grey from Farrow & Ball and she found the venitian blinds and curtain in an old butchery.

Marimekko Fatboy beanbags

I really like the Unikko print from Marimekko on the Fatboy beanbags...
They are so bright and make such a visual statement.

They also do cushions for dogs with this gorgeous print but frankly I think these would look amazing as floor cushions or on a deck around a low-level coffee table

Creative chalkboard

Photographer Sharon Montrose, came home one day from the gym and her husband had sketched bicycles on their chalboard....It looks fantastic!

But they aren't the only great shots from her blog. I love these as well...a snapshot from Sharon & her brother when they were kids, a feel-good message from the Monty Pyton and messages for fortune cookies....

For a last little treat, check out Sharon's dog photobooth....super cute!

Isabella Oliver's 365 collection

I'm in love. After designing gorgeous maternity wear, the girls at Isabella Oliver have launched their non-maternity range: the 365 collection and it is simply beautiful and sexy. Here are my favourites...
The Toga dress and the Multi drapes dress

For like ever...

This was a photo from Domino magazine which sadly no longer exists. I do not know the name of the artist who did this lovely print so I apologise but I wanted to add it to the blog because I love it

House in Provence

You would think this house was in the South of France, maybe 5 min walk from the Cote Bastide shop but no, the owners are in Spain and were inspired by farmhouses they had seen in Provence during their trips to France. I think they've done a wonderful job!

The chairs above are vintage Tolix.
The original chair was designed by Xavier Pauchard in 1934 for Tolix, a French company that manufactures its own products and distributes in France and abroad. Initially, these chairs were widely supplied to French bars and brasseries by breweries in exchange for selling their beer but this arrangement ended in the 1970s. The chairs were reissued in 1986 and are now seriously sought-after. You can get new ones from Conran and get vintage ones from Petersham Nurseries
The wooden tables can easily be made by a local carpenter. We did something similar to our house in France

Get the look with the daybed from Cote Bastide

or this beautiful patinized Cote Bastide clothes rail

And add little touches with these lovely beakers, or this willow basket (1 left in stock) and these pretty pure linen bags to hang. My favourite is this beautiful XVIII Stoup which is a reproduction of an original font for holy water placed at the entrance of a French Church.
